When it comes to Third Sector insurance, our experience has taught us that one-size certainly doesn’t fit all.
We office specialist advice for the Third Sector, Charities and Not for Profits. This is particularly important for properties of heritage.
Our team have been handling Heritage policies for a number of years will help look after your policy and provide a personal service. By understanding your property, the contents and any activities you undertake, we can help provide the appropriate cover for you.
We have an wide panel of insurers and are highly experienced experts at arranging heritage buildings insurance cover for a wide array of properties.
It is difficult to think of an example where an organisation does not need to consider Public Liability insurance. In fact, most of our customers see our Heritage Public Liability insurance as an enabler of their services, events and activities.
If your heritage organisation employs people in any capacity, you have a duty to protect them. Our Heritage Employers' Liability insurance protects you if you are found legally liable for injury, including illness, and death caused to an employee whilst carrying out their business duties.
Trustee indemnity insurance prevents trustees having to pay their own legal costs should a claim be made against them. This could be a claim made by the Heritage orgnisation itself or by a third party. Additionally, these policies cover breaches of trust and claims of negligence made against a trustee.

We are delighted to be partner members of the Heritage Network

I am a trustee of the Carnegie Theatre Trust, a Grade II listed building in Workington, Cumbria. It is Workington’s most significant civic venue steeped in cultural history. The Carnegie Theatre complex was originally built by Workington Borough Council as a Public Library and Lecture Hall and opened in 1904, using a grant of £7,500 from Scottish/American philanthropist Andrew Carnegie.
We have used Abbeystone since 2024 for insurance for the main Trust and also for our not for profit subsidiary Carnegie Workington Limited, which effectively runs the bar and cafe operation for the Trust.
We have found that Abbeystone have a thorough understanding of our specific needs and would recommend them to other heritage buildings. They helped us to achieve a very positive result to an insurance survey, which resulted in only two mandatory requirements being made. Changing our broker to Abbeystone was an easy process and the price found for insurance was highly competitive.
